accept the following conditions and guidelines:

I will provide the details of up to two Emergency Contacts. I note that these persons must be readily contactable throughout my time as a Volunteer for the Brookfield Show Society on the Brookfield Showground.

Note that this document / form is not intended to be a legally binding contract between BSS and you and it may be cancelled at any time by either BSS or you.

Preamble
A. You are a volunteer and have accepted a position at the Brookfield Show as a volunteer, helping stewards and show management (who are also all volunteers) in any tasks that may be allotted to you.
B. You warrant that you are fit for the purpose, both physically and mentally, of performing any tasks allotted to you.

1. Definition
(a) Being a volunteer means that you perform all duties on a voluntary basis and you will not receive remuneration or payment in kind for your work, other than reimbursement for authorised, receipted expenses.
(b) For the removal of any doubt, you are not an employee or independent contractor.

2. Terms of your engagement.
As a volunteer at the Brookfield Show, the Brookfield Show Society will -
(a) give you a written position description (if applicable); so that you understand your role as a volunteer;
(b) provide an induction, orientation and any specific training necessary for the volunteer role;
(c) provide a safe environment for you to perform your role;
(d) respect your privacy, which respect includes keeping your private information confidential;
(e) provide a supervisor, so that you have the opportunity to ask questions and get feedback; and
(f) provide insurance to cover you for the volunteer duties you are authorised to perform.

3. Your obligations
(1) As a volunteer you are expected to –
(a) uphold the aims and objectives of the BSS;
(b) participate in all relevant induction, orientation and training programs;
(c) only undertake duties you are authorised to perform;
(d) always operate under the direction and supervision of your designated supervisor;
(e) obey all reasonable lawful directions and instructions;
(f) understand and comply with the Queensland Council of Agricultural Show (QCAS) policies and procedures;
(g) notify your supervisor or another member of staff of any health and safety issues or potentially hazardous situations that may pose a risk to you or others; and report any accidents or incidents relating to staff, volunteers, or the workplace;
(h) behave appropriately and courteously to all staff, clients and the public in the course of your role;
(i) use any property or equipment given to you in your role safely and only for purpose of the role and return it to the organisation when you finish your volunteer role;
(j) comply with the law at all times;
(k) be open and honest in your dealings with BSS and let us know if we can improve our volunteer program and the support that you receive; and
(i) not consume any alcohol while performing your duties as a volunteer.

(2) As a volunteer, you acknowledge that BSS is not responsible for any personal effects that you may bring with you when you volunteer.

4. Members’ Bar volunteers
While working in the Members’ Bar it is your responsibility (if applicable) to ensure that -
(a) all drinks are purchased and under no circumstances are there to be any free drinks given to patrons or volunteers;
(b) all transactions follow the Members’ Bar policies and procedures; and
(c) you follow appropriate dress codes and wear covered in footwear.

5. Indemnity
(a) You indemnify the BSS against all claims arising out of your participation at the Brookfield Show and this indemnity includes actions, suits, claims and demands brought against the Brookfield Show Society by any individual or body arising out of your negligence or improper act or omission.
(b) You understand that your liability in indemnifying the Brookfield Show Society may be reduced proportionally to the extent that any negligent act or omission of the Brookfield Show Society may have contributed to the claim.

For the Show Society, the Chief Steward, Cathy Fullerton, and the President, Dan Petrie, are responsible for stewards and volunteers.
